Meet Abhati, a company that uses business as a force for good. Their "thank you" for your support are high-quality products that were mindfully produced.
Did you know Abhati?
Abhati (“shine” in Sanskrit) was created in December 2013, focusing on making the world a better place. Unlike other companies that do charity, Abhati is a for-profit company that reinvests a significant part of its profits to support charities. A few words from the CEO:

« We couldn’t imagine creating another beauty product, no matter how exceptional, if it meant depleting our precious resources. And for us, our most precious resources are our farmers, without whom we could not produce these wonderful formulations. It’s so important for us to give them the tools to live in dignity, in a healthy environment, and provide for their children to be educated. I’m proud to say that we’re accomplishing that. Seeing the results in rural India just makes me want to work harder, it’s really quite moving. » - Anju Rupal
That's right, Abhati is a company that uses business as a force for good to improve the world with a positive social and environmental impact by providing selfless services!
How does Abhati want to improve the world?
There are three main needs that Abhati seeks to address: The environment, farmers, and women. So whether you are an environmentalist, someone who supports women empowerment, or just someone who cares about the world and helping others, you will identify yourself with Abhati! During different processes of the business, Abhati addresses each of these concerns differently (from office to production to end product). So, “Applying an Abhati product to your face, hair and body means you are helping to make the world more beautiful too” (Anju Rupal).
The environment
Protecting the environment (our forests) is part of their cause, vision, and mission. They nurture and give back to it, instead of continually just taking away. That is, they make it cleaner than it was before. The way Abhati works towards this is by operating sustainably and by doing reforestation. Part of their profit goes to support woodlands.

How? The office they operate is sustainable and where possible, each step of their production is sustainable. The ingredients are organic or wildcrafted. Even the packaging is environmentally friendly. They also collaborate with NGOs such as Weforest.
The farmers
It is part of Abhati’s vision to invest in those who work for them by supporting local farmers and populations. By providing work for them and through fair trade they enable farmers to live in dignity and send their children to school. Part of their profit goes to support local farms.
In other words, Abhati values the farmers and gives them tools to live in dignity, in a healthy environment, and provide education for their children.
The women
Abhati’s main mission is to empower women worldwide. This will help fight gender inequalities and women's oppression. The way Anju Rupal, Abhati’s CEO, found to address this issue is by supporting girls' education in rural India. “...Literacy is a bridge between misery & hope” (Anju Rupal). Growing up in rural India is especially challenging for girls (see post on girls in rural India under did you know?). Thus, Abhati uses part of its profit to lead local education programs and increase education access for these girls.
By using Abhati's products you are helping to send girls in India to school. In fact, Abhati access its impact through the number of girls sent to school and the numbers of trees planted.
We have made it possible for an estimated 210,000 girls to acquire an education. And that is only the beginning. We are happy that you are helping us make that possible by choosing our products. *Namaste*” (Anju Rupal)

Quotes
If you go to Abhati's website, you will find some quotes from people who tried and know its products. For example, Nathalie Findlay shows great satisfaction:
I was a model for 20 years so I have no illusions about the efficiency or authenticity of advertised beauty products. But then I discovered Kaylana which was originally what attracted me to the Abhati range. Abhati stands head and shoulders above the rest, with its effectiveness as a skin and hair care line, its ethical framework and the organic formulations: it’s finally possible to look, feel and do good all at once...
This quote represents well the essence of Abhati: its high quality and ethical values, making you look good while feeling good at once.
Ok, so in a nutshell, what does it mean to buy products from Abhati?
By using Abhati’s products, you can be assured that you are supporting not one but many excellent causes; another reason to shine.
